On 30th March 2012, a graduation ceremony was held in camp for 28 students who successfully completed the basic 10 month training course, which started in June 2011. The main subjects of the basic training course included human rights, environmental protection and rule of law. Certificates were awarded to the graduates, and the Best Student Award for overall excellence in scholarship and social contributions was announced. Prizes were also awarded for academic achievement in the final exam and also for recognition of social contribution. The graduation ceremony was attended by over 100 people, who gathered to bear witness to the achievement of the students, including parents of current students and representatives from community based organisations (CBOs), such as Karenni Education Department (KnED), and other education organisations. The attendees of the graduation ceremony were invited to enjoy food and drinks at the SDC compound after the graduation ceremony.
